“Deep in his heart, every man wants to be a part of a team that does something great. Just look at the movies men adore. A team comes together to save the world, steal the money, or win the championship. The Lord of the Rings, X-Men, The Matrix, Saving Private Ryan, Oceans Eleven, Remember The Titans… feature a band of brothers who attempt the dangerous, the outrageous, the impossible. Each member of the team has a specialty and makes a vital contribution. A band of brothers. Though he may not realize it, every man longs to be a part of one” (Why Men Hate Church, D. Murrow).
Men’s groups are not about having a club or a guild (people with common interests or goals); it’s about integrating men into church. It’s about camaraderie, affirmation, personal development and spiritual growth.
A significant number of churchgoing men attend out of habit, unaffected by what they hear.
Quite a few men go to church simply to keep their wives/mothers/girlfriends happy.
The majority of men who attend church do nothing during the week to grow their faith.
Relatively few churches are able to establish or maintain a vibrant men’s ministry.
Men are a different. The common perception is men are self-reliant, don't feel, don't touch, don’t need fellowship, are too macho and are very competitive. Men see life as a puzzle.
At Evergreen Church we believe strongly in the training and preparing of men from the cradle to the grave.This involves a number of age appropriate ministries as well as ongoing special events to provide both relationships and a ripe environment for mentoring to take place.
Women have a distinguished place in God’s heart. It is important that women know their true value in the Kingdom of Heaven. Here at Evergreen we commit to helping each woman grow to their fullest, God-given potential.
We desire to do this by equipping each woman with the tools necessary to flourish in His kingdom. There are Life Transformation groups, Video Driven Bible studies, and other empowering events where the women of Evergreen can get together, have fun and most importantly experience God on a whole new level.
ECSP has a constantly changing number of Small Groups and LTG's running. LTG's run constantly on almost every night of the week all over Stevens Point. Presently running small groups include:
"The Rescued" is our student ministry at ECSP for grades 6-12. We meet weekly at a new time and place--the Evergreen church office (1209 2nd Street--Downtown) on Thursdays from 6:30-8:00 PM. Feel free to join us and bring a friend as we spend time getting to know the God that rescues us! Please come back often to check out what's going on with "The Rescued."
